About me: I feel like I have lived several lives in my life. I've been a lighting designer/stagehand in New York, a bookseller in Berkeley, Ca. Long time ago, in Portland, Maine, I worked with a puppet theater and as a crab meat picker. I am interested in too many things, including photography, books (reading and experimenting with making them), and cooking (and, of course, eating). I moved to C-U in August 2005 with my partner, Margaret, who is a grad student in Art History at UIUC. We were worried about where we would find good, vegan-friendly food here in C-U and were happy to find Common Ground. (I am still looking for good Chinese food here, vegan or not, any tips?) The co-op is one of the places where I have felt most comfortable out here in the middle of the cornfields and it felt natural to progress from core worker to worker. I find the people at the co-op congenial, interesting, and kind, and I like being surrounded by all this good food. I also am very happy to be working in a cooperative, not corporate, environment.
