CANNING WORKSHOP
Do you want to enjoy local foods all year round? Are you looking for a way to save money on food? Do you have an interest in food traditions and preservation? If so, sign up for one of three canning workshops with Common Ground member and local foods enthusiast Anna Barnes. The canning workshop will cover the basics of water bath canning which is suitable for jams, salsas, tomato sauce, pickles, and other acidic foods. We will be canning whatever is plentiful in the market--could be applesauce, grape jelly, pasta sauce, or salsa. Anyone can do this type of canning with equipment they probably already have in their kitchen, or can easily find at area stores or garage sales.
Dates: Saturday, Oct. 25, 3-5pm, Sunday, Oct. 26, 3-5pm, or Monday, Oct. 27, 6-8pm
Cost: $10 for member-owners and $20 for non-owners
Location: Common Ground Food Co-op Kitchen
Registration: Sign up at the register at Common Ground Food Co-op. Payment is required upon registration. Limit 6 participants. You must be 18 or older to participate in this workshop.
